There are a few things to keep in mind when cleaning the raclette stone if you want to enjoy it for a long time. We show you how to do it properly and which mistakes you should avoid at all costs
How to properly clean a raclette stone
A quick note beforehand: discolouration on the raclette stone is normal after repeated use.
- It is best to clean the stone as soon as possible after use. Wait until the stone is only lukewarm.
- When cleaning the stone plate, the following applies: Use as little water as possible, some washing-up liquid and only a soft sponge or cloth.
- Put some washing-up liquid – one to two drops are enough – on a soft sponge and wipe the natural stone with it. Stubborn food residues can be soaked with the washing-up liquid foam.
- Wipe the stone with a damp cloth and dry it carefully with a kitchen towel.
- Important: Do not soak the stone, i.e. do not put it in water. The natural stone absorbs the water. Even if you dry it off later, it will still have a lot of moisture in it and will become porous over time.
- Pointed or scratching objects as well as abrasive or aggressive cleaning agents are also taboo. They would damage the smooth surface of the stone.
