Fuel apps in comparison: You should know these

by Estelle

Fuel apps are very popular, especially in times of increased fuel prices. They provide a selection of petrol stations, giving the user an overview of all current petrol prices. We tell you about the most popular fuel apps for your smartphone.

Tank app “Mehr-tanken” for current prices

“More-fuel” is a popular app available for both Apple and Android users. For an additional charge, the free app can also be used without advertising.

  • A big plus is that the app gets its data from the market transparency unit as well as from user updates. The app already has many users, which means that petrol prices are usually always up to date.
  • By activating the price alert, you will receive push notifications on your smartphone as soon as one of your favourite petrol stations or a petrol station in your vicinity is particularly cheap.
  • The app also shows you charging stations for electric cars and hydrogen filling stations if required.
    • However, there are two drawbacks to the app. Firstly, there are frequent advertisements, and secondly, the menu and map are not very clear compared to other petrol apps.

“ADAC fuel prices” for an overview

The automobile association ADAC’s own fuel app can also be used by Apple and Android users. The app “ADAC Spritpreise” is free of charge and is particularly suitable for a quick overview.

    • The app shows the usual fuel prices, but also prices for filling up with natural gas. After you have set your personal fuel type, you can choose between the list and map view to display filling stations near you.
    • The app is easy to use. The fact that it does not display any advertisements makes it particularly user-friendly.
    • An integrated route planner sends you via the fastest route to your selected petrol station. The associated StauScanner is an additional function that alerts you to traffic jams and accidents. You can also anonymously report traffic jams yourself.

Save money even in other European countries with the “PACE Drive App “

The “PACE Drive App” is available for download for Apple and Android users. Within the app, numerous fuel types can be compared with each other. The free app also does not display any advertising.

    • You can compare fuel prices in Germany, Spain, France, Italy and Portugal within the app.
    • If you have a fuel card, it will be taken into account when displaying the cheapest fuel prices. You can also filter your petrol station search by your fuel card.
    • With the mobile payment function, you can pay directly from your car. To do this, select your petrol pump, then the payment method and finally confirm the payment process. You will receive a receipt digitally.

The lowest market price with “clever-tanken “

The “clever-tanken” app can also be used by Android and Apple users. The advertising can be deactivated by making a payment. In addition to the common types of fuel, charging stations for e-cars are also displayed.

    • In the app, enter a low price that suits you and the app will notify you when it is available in your area. Using collected data from the past, the app calculates for you when it is cheapest for you to fill up: now or in a few hours’ time.
      • An integrated map shows you all the petrol stations in your area, allowing you to choose the one that is cheapest for you. The list of petrol stations can be sorted by distance, price or alphabetically.
      • The HEM Low Price Guarantee ensures that you always fill up at the lowest price at HEM petrol stations. You can compare all petrol stations within a radius of five kilometres. If you find a cheaper supplier than a HEM filling station, take a screenshot and present it to your HEM filling station. They will then exclusively reduce the fuel price for you to the price of the cheaper competitor.
      • The app also reveals some statistics. You can find out which cities currently sell the cheapest petrol and how petrol prices have changed recently.
