If Apple CarPlay does not work, this can have various causes. In this practical tip, we tell you what the most common reasons for malfunctions are and how you can quickly fix them
Apple CarPlay does not work: This could be the reason
With Apple CarPlay, you can use your iPhone not only to make calls and listen to music, but also to get directions. The practical thing: you use the functions via voice control, so you don’t have to take your hands off the steering wheel. If CarPlay does not work, you should check the following things:
- It is important that there is a connection between your iPhone and the car’s infotainment system. You can establish this connection either by cable or via WLAN or Bluetooth.
- If you are using the wired connection, try connecting the USB cable to another USB port. It may also be helpful to replace the cable.
- If you are using a wireless connection, check the settings to see if Wi-Fi or Bluetooth are enabled.
- Make sure Siri is activated. This is the only way for CarPlay to work properly.
- In addition, the latest version of the iOS operating system should be installed on your IPhone. If this is not the case, first carry out an update.
Apple CarPlay does not respond: Other causes
If Apple CarPlay still does not work, the following tips may help:
- First you should restart your iPhone and then your vehicle. This will establish a new connection once again. If CarPlay does not start automatically, look for the CarPlay logo on your infotainment display and activate it manually.
- Sometimes CarPlay does not recognise your iPhone. In this case, tap “Screen time” in the settings and then “Restrictions”. There you will find “Allowed apps” and can activate and deactivate CarPlay.
- If this does not help either, you should set up CarPlay on your iPhone again. To do this, call up the app’s settings, click on “General”. You can ignore your car there and carry out a new set-up.
