by Pramith

You can transfer your WhatsApp chats to your new Android phone and simply continue chatting there. We will show you exactly how to do this in our instructions.

Android: Transfer WhatsApp chats to your new mobile phone

Before you transfer the chats, you should make a manual backup of the WhatsApp chats on the old mobile phone. To do this, proceed as follows:

– Open WhatsApp and select “Settings” in the top right menu.

– In the category “Chats” you will find the item “Chat backup”.

– Tap on the “Backup” button here to save the current chat history.

– Click on “Backup chat history” to create a manual backup.

– In the next paragraph, we will show you how to manually transfer the locally stored backup.

Transfer WhatsApp chats via cloud

It is easier to transfer WhatsApp chats if you choose Google Drive as the storage location for the backup.

– Proceed as described in the first paragraph: Activate the backup option in WhatsApp’s settings, select Google Drive as the storage location.

If you then log in to WhatsApp on a new Android smartphone with your mobile phone number, you will be asked whether you want to restore your chats.

– Click on “Restore” and all your backed up chats will be transferred.
