WhatsApp status: How to upload an (extended) video
In WhatsApp status, you can not only share pictures and links with your contacts, you can also post videos there. However, the messenger only allows you to post 30-second clips. You can bypass the limit with a trick.
- To post a video to your WhatsApp status, you need to select the clip in your gallery, tap the share icon and then tap WhatsApp. There you go to “Send to…My status”
- Or you can go directly to the WhatsApp status area (bottom left on the iPhone, top center on the Android tab News) and press the green plus next to your profile picture.
- Tap Video to record a video, which you can then share directly in your status or tap the gallery icon to upload a video from your gallery to your status.
- If your video is longer than 30 seconds, you will receive an error message. However, if you split the file into shorter clips in advance using a video editing app, you can simply upload them one after the other in the correct order to post a long video to your WhatsApp status.
- There are also apps that do this work for you, for example “Video Splitter for WhatsApp”.
Save WhatsApp video from status: How it works
If one of your friends has an interesting video in their WhatsApp status that you would like to save, this only works in a roundabout way. WhatsApp itself does not offer a save function for the status.
- For example, you can start a screen recording on your Android device or your iPhone, then play the WhatsApp status and trim the video afterwards so that only the clip from the status is visible.
- Alternatively, there are apps that allow you to download and save the status of your contacts and therefore also videos. The Status Saver app is available for Android and you can download Status Saver for WA Story Save from the App Store for Apple devices
