Use digital vaccination certificate without mobile phone: Proof of vaccination without a smartphone

by Johannes

If you want to use the digital vaccination certificate without a mobile phone, you have to use a little trick. In this practical tip, we will show you how easy it is to do this.

How to use your digital vaccination card without a smartphone

The digital vaccination certificate can be saved via app. But what to do if you don’t have a mobile phone at all, or at least not a smartphone, and therefore can’t access either the Google Play Store or the App Store?

  • In this case, you cannot use the digital vaccination certificate – at least not on your mobile phone. Without the necessary app and a corresponding camera function, the letter cannot be transferred to your device.
  • What is possible, however: You can carry the printout of the QR code with you and confirm your vaccination this way. This is possible because the QR code can be read directly by a special testing app – and it is not necessary for you to have a smartphone to do this.
  • Ideally, copy the letter with the QR code so that you don’t lose the original on the way. It makes no difference whether you have the code scanned from the original letter or from the copy.
  • You can of course also show the yellow vaccination booklet. However, as this vaccination booklet can also get lost, it would be easier to just carry the copy of the QR code.
