If your SIM card is not recognised by your mobile phone, this may have several causes. We will tell you what the reasons may be and how you can solve the respective problems.
SIM card is not recognised: What you can do
The first thing you should do is switch your phone off and on again. Temporary errors in the temporary memory are cleared by this. This often solves the problem.
– Also check whether the card is properly seated in the slot. Often small dust particles get stuck on the card and interfere with the contact between the SIM and the mobile phone.
– It is best to clean the card with a microfibre cloth. A damp finger will also do in a pinch. However, make sure that you insert the card back into the mobile phone completely dry.
Non-recognised SIM card: SIM or mobile phone defective
If none of this helps, a defective card or mobile phone cannot be ruled out.
– If the SIM card is still relatively new, your provider will usually send you a replacement card free of charge. As a rule, it is not assumed that you caused the damage yourself.
– If the damage is due to age-related wear and tear, some providers charge a small fee for a new card. These are around 5 euros.
– It is best to try out the SIM card in another device. If the fault lies with your device, contact the seller or manufacturer and insist on your warranty rights.
