If your Samsung Galaxy smartphone no longer starts, it can usually only be restored by performing a reset. We show you exactly how to proceed to do this.
Safe Mode: Samsung Galaxy smartphone no longer boots
If the smartphone still turns on but no longer starts properly, you can still save some data using Safe Mode:
- Hold down the power button on the right of the device until the Samsung logo appears.
- Release the power button and press and hold the silent button until the smartphone has started. For older devices with a home button, use the home button instead of the quiet button.
- In the bottom left-hand corner of the display you will now see the words “Safe Mode”.
- Remove all apps that you last installed and undo all settings that could have caused the problem. Also back up all important data.
Reset the Samsung Galaxy smartphone
If you could not solve the problem, the only option is usually to reset to the factory settings. To avoid running out of battery during this process, be sure to connect your phone to a power source. Important: Since Android 11, the recovery mode only starts when the phone is charging at the same time.
- Hold down the power button, Bixby button and the volume up button simultaneously for a few seconds. On older devices with a Home button, replace the Bixby button with the Home button.
- When the Android logo appears, you can release the buttons. You are now in recovery mode.
- Navigate to the “wipe data/factory reset” option with the volume buttons and select it with the power button.
- Then choose the options “delete all user data” and “reboot”.
