Samsung Galaxy: Forgotten the lock pattern – 4 simple ways to unlock it.

by Pramith

If you’ve forgotten the lock pattern of your Samsung Galaxy, there’s no need to worry. We tell you how you can still access your device

Forgetting your Samsung Galaxy lock pattern: work around with Google account

To unlock your Samsung smartphone despite forgetting your lock pattern, you ideally have an alternative unlock method set up. For example, the fingerprint or face scan. If this is not the case, you can unlock your smartphone via the Google account. The prerequisite for this is that your smartphone is connected to the Internet.

  • Sign in to Google with your Google account that you used to set up your Samsung smartphone.
  • Click the “Security” tab in the Dashboard and select “Find a lost device” under the “My devices” heading.
  • Select your Samsung smartphone from the overview. Click on “Lock device” on the left. You will now be prompted to enter a temporary password. You do not need to reload the active tab within the browser for this.
  • Enter the temporary password and confirm the selection. You will then receive a request on your Samsung smartphone to enter the temporary password.
  • Enter the password and confirm it. Your smartphone will then be unlocked.

Unlocking via Find My Mobile – Samsung service makes it possible

Samsung users can use Samsung’s “Find my Mobile” service in addition to unlocking via the Google account. However, this function must first be activated on the smartphone. In addition, an internet connection of the smartphone is also required here.

  • To do this, open the settings and click on “Biometrics and security”.
  • Then click on “Find my Mobile” and activate the “Remote Unlock” function via the switch. After entering your password, the function is active.
  • To unlock the phone, open the Find My Mobile website and log in with your credentials.
  • Here, after selecting your device, you can select “Unlock” and set up a new screen lock.

Unlocking via Smart Lock – explained in a few steps

You can bypass the unlock pattern via Smart Lock. Here, your mobile phone is automatically unlocked with a known WLAN network or Bluetooth device. However, this function must also be set up beforehand.

  • To use Smart Lock, select the item “Lock screen” in the settings.
  • Now select “Smart Lock”.
  • After entering the PIN, you can add trusted Bluetooth devices or locations. The Wear Detection feature causes your smartphone to remain unlocked while you are wearing or moving it.

Reset Samsung Galaxy to factory settings

If your Samsung smartphone does not have an Internet connection, you can reset your smartphone to the factory settings. This will erase all of your device’s data – including the lock code:

  • Turn off the smartphone first.
  • Press the Volume Up and Power buttons at the same time to open the advanced developer options.
  • Use the Volume Up and Volume Down buttons to switch to the “wipe data/factory reset” item.
  • Use the Volume Up and Volume Down buttons again to select “yes” to confirm the action.
  • To finish, press the power button to finally confirm the action.
  • Finally, the unit will restart. After that, the previous unlock pattern and all files on the device are deleted.
