You can connect older Samsung Galaxy Watch models to your iPhone. However, there are a few things to keep in mind and some restrictions to be aware of if you want to use the smartwatch and your iPhone together.
Connecting a Samsung Galaxy Watch to an iPhone – Requirements
Samsung Galaxy Watches are only compatible with iPhones up to and including the Galaxy Watch3. iPhones are no longer supported from the Galaxy Watch4 onwards, as these models are based on Wear OS and require Google Play Services that are not available on iOS.
- You must have at least an iPhone 5 or newer with iOS 9.0 or later if you want to connect your Samsung Galaxy Watch to your iPhone.
- The Samsung Galaxy Watch is only compatible with Android smartphones and iPhones, not with an iPad or iPod Touch.
- The list of models compatible with iPhones includes: Gear S2/S3/Sport, Galaxy Watch (first generation), Galaxy Watch Active, Galaxy Watch Active2, Galaxy Watch3
How to connect the Galaxy Watch to your iPhone
If you want to connect your compatible Samsung Galaxy Watch to your iPhone, follow these steps:
- Download the Samsung Galaxy Watch (Gear S) app from the App Store.
- If you have already connected a smartphone to your Galaxy Watch, you will need to reset the smartwatch. To do this, go to the smartwatch settings. Under System ☻ Disconnect & Reset, you can reset the Samsung Galaxy Watch. Please note that you will lose any settings you have already made when you reset it, and you will therefore need to set up your smartwatch again later.
- After that, you can connect your iPhone to the Samsung Galaxy Watch via Bluetooth.
- With the Samsung Galaxy Watch app, you can download apps to your Galaxy Watch and make settings on it.
