Some specs about the Google Pixel 9 Pro XL are already known before the release. One YouTuber was even allowed to hold the device in his hands
Specs & Release: Google Pixel 9 Pro XL to be presented in August 2024
The Google Pixel 9 Pro XL is in the starting blocks and wants to give the competition a run for its money. Some features and technical details have already been leaked in advance. For example, the portal 91 Mobiles, in collaboration with the reliable leaker Onleaks, published numerous technical specifications of Google’s new smartphone (as of July 2024).
- According to the portal, Google will not only launch a Pixel 9 and a Pixel 9 Pro, but also a Pixel 9 Pro XL. While the Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro will have a 6.3-inch (approx. 16 cm) screen, the XL version will have a 6.8-inch (approx. 17 cm) display
- The Pixel 9 Pro XL is equipped with a 50-megapixel main camera, a super wide-angle camera with 48 megapixels and a telephoto camera with 48 megapixels. The front camera also has a resolution of 42 megapixels
- Another leaked promo video on X also suggests that the smartphone will be equipped with numerous camera features, such as Super Res Zoom Video or “Add me”. There will also be a revised panorama mode in the Google Camera app
- “AI Call Notes” will also be included. This feature allows calls to be recorded and transcribed. It is not yet clear how severe the regional restrictions will be due to the legal framework.
- The device is equipped with Google’s new “SoC Tensor G4” chip. The working memory amounts to 16 GByte.
- The new Google XL smartphone will be presented to the public for the first time during the Made by Google event on August 13, 2024 at 7 p.m. German time.
Google Pixel 9 Pro XL: YouTuber shows his followers the smartphone
YouTuber Andro-news has allegedly gotten a first look at the new Google Pixel 9 Pro XL. In a video uploaded in July 2024, he shows his followers the smartphone.
- The video is less about the technical details. Instead, the YouTuber focuses on the haptics and the hands-on experience
- Andro-news focuses primarily on the size of Google’s upcoming XL smartphone, which is compared with the size of the iPhone 15 Pro Max and the Galaxy S24 Ultra, among others.
- According to the YouTuber, the Pixel 9 Pro XL should be similar in weight to the Apple smartphone despite its slightly larger dimensions. Compared to the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra, however, the new Google phone is slightly smaller, which is mainly due to the rounded corners
- Since the Pixel 9 Pro XL is not switched on in the video, it can be assumed that this is a dummy from the pre-production phase.
- The Google smartphone appears to have glossy sides and a matte back. The volume and power buttons are in the same place as on the Pixel 8 Pro XL. However, the SIM card slot has moved and can be found to the left of the USB-C port on the new model
