To set up your Google Pixel 8, you may need your old smartphone and charging cables. If you want to transfer data from your iPhone to your new Pixel, you will need a bit more preparation.
Set up the Google Pixel 8 step by step: how to switch from Android
Switching from an Android smartphone to the Google Pixel 8 is straightforward. You need to follow the following steps to do so:
- Power on Google Pixel 8: First, turn on your device by pressing and holding the top button on the right side. Then select the language.
- Insert SIM card: Use the included SIM tool to open the card slot of your Google Pixel 8.Now place your SIM card in the tray and insert it into the device.
- Make a network connection: The next step is to connect your new smartphone to the Internet. You can do this either via WLAN or the mobile network.
- Connect both smartphones via cable: Next, connect your Google Pixel 8 to your old Android smartphone via cable. If necessary, use the included Quick Switch adapter to do so and confirm the connection on your Android smartphone.
- Google account login: Log in with your Google account on your Pixel 8.
- Select data to transfer: The last thing you’ll do is select what information to copy to your new Google Pixel during the data transfer. This process may take some time depending on the volume. After successful transfer, tap “Done” to finish setting up your Google Pixel 8.
Set up Google Pixel 8: Transfer data from iPhone
When switching from iPhone to Google Pixel 8, you need to prepare your old iPhone for data transfer first.
- Prepare iPhone: First of all, you need to disable FaceTime and iMessage on your iPhone. Keep in mind that your SIM card must still be in your iPhone for the process. Remove your SIM card only after you have logged out your phone number from all Apple devices.
- Turn on your Google Pixel 8: Turn on your Pixel by pressing and holding the top button on the right side.
- Insert SIM card: Open the card slot of your Google Pixel 8 using the included eject key. Then place your SIM card in the tray and slide it into the device.
