The Samsung Browser app is automatically preinstalled on every Samsung smartphone. If you use the in-house internet browser and want to delete the cookies, proceed as follows:

  • Go to “Settings”.

  • Then navigate to “Personal browsing data” ☻ “Delete browsing data”.

  • Check “Delete cookies and site data”. To free up a little more memory, you can also delete your browser history and cached images here.

  • Finally, tap “Delete data” at the bottom.

  • Important: Deleting cookies may mean that you have to log in to websites again, as login data may be removed.

Delete other cookies on the Samsung

Depending on the browser, you may also have to delete the cookies there.

  • Only the cookies of the browser you are using are relevant.

  • If you use Google Chrome, Opera or Firefox to surf the web on your Samsung, you need to delete the cookies in the respective browser.

  • Chrome: Open the Google Chrome app on your Samsung smartphone. Tap the three dots in the top right. Select the “History” menu item. Tap “Clear Browsing Data”. Make sure that cookies and website data is selected. Optionally, you can also delete other data such as the cache. Tap “Delete data”.

Scroll down and tap “Privacy & Security”. In the “Privacy” section, select “Clear browsing data…”. Check the box next to “Cookies and other site data” and select the desired time period. Confirm your selection by tapping “Clear data”.

  • Firefox: Open the Firefox app on your Samsung smartphone. Tap the three dots in the top right corner. Select the “Settings” menu item. Scroll down and tap “Clear Private Data”. In the following pop-up, check the box next to “Cookies & Active Logins”. Uncheck the other options if you only want to delete cookies. Tap “Delete data” to complete the process.

Why it makes sense to delete cookies

It makes sense to delete cookies regularly for a number of reasons:

  • Data protection: Cookies can track your surfing behavior across different websites and create detailed user profiles. By deleting cookies, you can better protect your privacy and prevent your online behavior from being analyzed.

  • Security: Some cookies could be misused by third parties to access your data without authorization. Deleting cookies reduces the risk of such misuse.

  • Storage space: Cookies can accumulate over time and take up storage space. Regular deletion keeps your device free of unnecessary data.

  • Preventing targeted advertising: Many advertising companies use cookies to show you personalized ads. By regularly deleting cookies, you can reduce this targeted advertising.

  • Optimization of browser speed: Too many stored cookies can cause your browser to run more slowly. Removing unnecessary cookies can improve performance.
