By deleting the cookies on your Samsung, you remove accumulated web data. Sometimes this can help you fix minor errors or ensure that the Samsung browser works smoothly again.
Samsung Internet Browser: Delete cookies on the Samsung
The Samsung Browser app is automatically preinstalled on every Samsung smartphone. If you use the in-house internet browser and want to delete the cookies, proceed as follows:
- Open your Samsung browser and tap the menu symbol at the bottom right. You can recognize it by the three horizontal lines.
- Go to “Settings”.
- Then navigate to “Personal browsing data” ☻ “Delete browsing data”.
- Check “Delete cookies and site data”. To free up a little more memory, you can also delete your browser history and cached images here.
- Finally, tap “Delete data” at the bottom.
- Important: Deleting cookies may mean that you have to log in to websites again, as login data may be removed.
Delete other cookies on the Samsung
Depending on the browser, you may also have to delete the cookies there.
- Only the cookies of the browser you are using are relevant.
- If you use Google Chrome, Opera or Firefox to surf the web on your Samsung, you need to delete the cookies in the respective browser.
- Chrome: Open the Google Chrome app on your Samsung smartphone. Tap the three dots in the top right. Select the “History” menu item. Tap “Clear Browsing Data”. Make sure that cookies and website data is selected. Optionally, you can also delete other data such as the cache. Tap “Delete data”.
- Opera: Open the Opera app on your Samsung phone. Tap the small O logo or the menu icon in the bottom right corner to open the browser menu. Select the “Settings” menu item. Scroll down and tap “Privacy & Security”. In the “Privacy” section, select “Clear browsing data…”. Check the box next to “Cookies and other site data” and select the desired time period. Confirm your selection by tapping “Clear data”.
- Firefox: Open the Firefox app on your Samsung smartphone. Tap the three dots in the top right corner. Select the “Settings” menu item. Scroll down and tap “Clear Private Data”. In the following pop-up, check the box next to “Cookies & Active Logins”. Uncheck the other options if you only want to delete cookies. Tap “Delete data” to complete the process.
Why it makes sense to delete cookies
It makes sense to delete cookies regularly for a number of reasons:
- Data protection: Cookies can track your surfing behavior across different websites and create detailed user profiles. By deleting cookies, you can better protect your privacy and prevent your online behavior from being analyzed.
