Android: Delete preinstalled apps

by Michaela

In this article we will show you how to delete pre-installed apps on your Android smartphone. First of all: Unfortunately, some installed apps cannot be deleted so easily

Deleting pre-installed apps on Android – here’s how to do it

Apps that are already preinstalled on your smartphone – so-called bloatware – consume a lot of memory. There is nothing you can do about this, but you can at least prevent bloatware updates from taking up more memory. Therefore, you should rather deactivate the applications. We tell you how to switch off the unwanted apps.

  • Open the “Settings” and tap on “Apps”. Here you will see all the apps installed on your smartphone.
  • Tap on the respective app and then on “Uninstall”.
  • For some pre-installed apps, you will not find an “Uninstall” button there.
  • In this case, you can only “Uninstall” all “Updates” and “Disable” the app.
  • The only way to completely remove such apps is to root your phone. If you do this, you will lose the warranty on your device and risk that your smartphone will no longer be functional.
  • If you do decide to root your smartphone, you can delete the pre-installed apps at this exact point in the settings.
  • Note: If you want to root your smartphone and then remove apps, be very careful. If you delete important system apps, your device may become non-functional.
