People Space was the original name of an Android 12 widget that subsequently circulated as “Conversation”.
Android 12 People Space: using Conversation widget
Android 12 offers Conversation, a widget that provides a variety of notifications about one’s contacts on the home screen. Originally introduced under the term People Space, the widget was renamed over the course of development.
- Note: The widget is only available on Google Pixel devices. Other manufacturers do not use the widget and it is not possible to install it.
- To activate the widget, press and hold an empty space on the homescreen until the widgets open.
- You will then see the Conversations option. Confirm this. You can then place the widget anywhere you like on the Home screen. You can also adjust the size.
- After that, you can choose which chat, contact or app you want to be displayed. You can move each bubble to the desired location. You can still customise them afterwards.
- You can delete Conversations in the same way. The Conversation widget allows you to customise the Home screen to get a direct overview of the chats with your contacts.
Advantages of Conversation in Android 12
Conversation, as a widget, brings some benefits to Google smartphone owners running Android 12 and later:
- The widget is installed from scratch and you do not have to download it additionally. It is also available for Android 13.
- Conversation allows you to integrate various apps, including Telegram or Facebook Messenger. This shows you the current chats directly on the homescreen without having to swipe down.
- By customising each bubble, you can tailor the homescreen to help you spot important chats faster. The widget is not limited to one style.
- In addition to chats, Conversation enables notifications about appointments, the last played songs of contacts or missed calls. This depends on the integrated apps.
- You can switch to the app directly via the respective bubble by clicking on it. This way you do not have to select the app yourself to respond.
