Many blogs on the internet are operated with the content management system “Blogger” provided by Google under the sub-domain “Blogspot”, which can cause confusion, especially for newcomers.
What Blogger is – what’s behind the blogs
The content management system Blogger is behind Blogspot, which provides the software for all blogs published there.
- Blogspot is the subdomain of the “Blogger” service. This is provided by Google and allows you to run your own blog. If you create your own blog via Blogger, it will receive the URL extension “.blogspot.com “by default.
- You can create and manage these blogs on Blogger. There you set the design of the website and write and format your texts.
- Blogs are personal websites on which you can publish articles. Blogs can be compared to diaries or journals. As the author, you decide which topics you want to write about.
- On the internet there are blogs on every conceivable topic. From everyday impressions of young mothers to fitness and film reviews, everything is there.
- Blogs are not necessarily designed to make money. But once you have a certain reach, you can monetise with AdSense on Blogger.
Create your first blog with Blogger
The advantage of Blogspot pages you create with Blogger is that you already publish a presentable blog presence with little effort.
- To create a blog, go to Blogger and sign in with your Google account.
- Use the drop-down menu in the top left-hand corner to create a new blog and give it a name.
- The next step is to define the URL under which users will find your blog. The back part of the URL is always the same for all users.
- The more creative and unusual the name for your URL, the more likely it is that it has not yet been assigned.
- Once you have registered your URL, there is nothing to stop you from writing your first blog post. To do this, go to the overview page and click on the New Post button in the top left-hand corner. Thanks to the text editor, you can format your texts, include other media content such as videos or images and set the date of publication.
