Canon printer won't scan - what you can do - Practical Tips

Canon printer won’t scan – what you can do

by Pramith

With most Canon printers you can do much more than just print. However, if yours doesn’t scan, one of the reasons may be that the machine isn’t switched on properly or the right driver is missing. What you can do then and how you can solve other possible problems, we tell you in this practical tip.

What you can do if the Canon printer does not scan (anymore)

  • Before you start scanning, make sure your printer is turned on and ready.
  • After that, check if your printer is properly connected to your PC. If you have connected the printer to your PC with a USB cable, make sure that the cable is connected correctly and does not have a defect.
  • Alternatively, you can use another USB port on your PC to rule out a possible defect in the USB connection.
  • However, a quick remedy can also give you a restart of the printer.

More solutions: Canon printer does not scan

  • Many printers can also be connected via WLAN. Therefore, you should turn on the WLAN function on the printer and check if it is connected to your PC
To do this, go to “Control Panel” ☻ “Printers” and search for your Canon printer. There you should see the addition “Ready”. However, if it says “Offline”, the printer is either switched off or not connected to the PC. If the device is not listed at all, the corresponding driver is missing.
You can download tools from Canon’s website to connect the PC to the printer via Wi-Fi. The latest drivers can also be found there.
