If you want to get more accurate measurements of your activities, you should calibrate your Apple Watch properly. In this article, we will show you exactly how to do this.
Instruction: Calibrate Apple Watch
If no GPS connection is available, the Apple Watch is on its own. To ensure that distances and your pace are measured as accurately as possible even without a GPS signal, you should calibrate the Smartwatch:
- Open the “Settings” app on your iPhone and select “Location Services” in the “Privacy” category.
- Make sure that the location services are activated and that the option “Motion calibr. Distance” is turned on.
- Make sure that the location services are enabled.
- Stand in an open area with your Apple Watch and iPhone. The GPS signal should be as undisturbed as possible here.
- Either hold your iPhone in your hand or strap it to your arm with a strap.
- Now open the Workout app on the Apple Watch and select the “Outdoor Walking” or “Outdoor Running” programme.
- Select a destination or the “Open” option and start the programme by pressing “Start”.
- Now run for about 20 minutes. Alternatively, you can divide these 20 minutes into several workouts.
- While doing this, move at your usual pace. The Apple Watch can now better understand your movements due to the presence of the iPhone.
– Note: If you perform your training sessions at different speeds, you should repeat the 20 minutes for each desired speed. This will give you the best possible result.
