We’ll show you step by step how to easily reactivate your Instagram account and give you useful tips for diving back into the social network.
Reactivate a deactivated Instagram account
Requirements: Your Instagram account must have been temporarily deactivated, not permanently deleted. A permanently deleted account cannot be restored. In this case, you will need to create a new account. Only in exceptional cases will Instagram grant an extension of up to 90 days.
- Open Instagram either via the app on your smartphone or directly via the website.
- Enter your username (or the associated email address) and password.
- Log in as usual. Once you log in, your deactivated account will be automatically reactivated and can be used again immediately.
- All your photos, likes, comments, and followers will be retained.
Forgot your password? No problem
If you forgot your Instagram password and want to reactivate your account, follow these steps:
- Open the Instagram app or website and go to the login screen.
- Click on “Forgot your password?” or “Help signing in.”
- Enter the email address, phone number, or Instagram username associated with your account.
- Instagram will then send you a link to reset your password via email or SMS.
- Click on the link and set a new password.
- Then log in with your new password. Your deactivated account will be automatically reactivated.
- If your Instagram account is linked to Facebook, you can also log in via “Log in with Facebook” and change your password directly without having to go through email or SMS.
