Earning money with an online survey can provide a small income, depending on the effort invested. However, you need to make sure that the platform is reputable.
Earning money with online surveys: useful information
Various market and opinion research institutes such as “Testerheld”, “YouGov”, “Meinungsplatz”, “Meinungsstudie”, “Toluna” and “LifePoints” invite you to take part in online surveys. This way, you can flexibly earn a small amount of money in between times and from home.
- Remuneration options: Depending on the survey institute, you either receive a predetermined sum, a number of points, rewards or shopping vouchers for each survey. Once you have reached a certain point total, you can then redeem the points or have the sum of money paid out from a certain amount.
- Amount of earnings: As a guideline, the survey institutes usually state 1 euro per 10 minutes, which is an hourly wage of 6 euros. Those who take paid surveys more often should earn between 8 and 12 euros per hour, depending on the institute. However, some users report that many surveys take considerably more time. You are not paid by the hour, but only after successfully completing the survey.
- Register with several institutes: Since many institutes only send a limited number of surveys per month to users, it is recommended to register with several institutes. A maximum of 200-250 euros per month can be earned on average for paid surveys, which proves to be unprofitable for many.
- Take your time: Although you can answer the questions quickly, it is expected and certainly monitored how long you need for a survey and how coherent the answers are.
- Survey selection: You have to qualify for some surveys. Depending on, for example, age, income, occupation or technical equipment, the target group is filtered out. This can take time and does not bring any compensation. Sometimes the survey is canceled in the middle because you are not suitable after all.
Paid surveys: pros and cons
Ultimately, you have to weigh the pros and cons to determine the extent to which the surveys are worthwhile for you.
- Easy access, but information disclosure: One advantage is that online surveys give you easy access to earning money. You can complete many surveys on the go or at home. Furthermore, most surveys do not require any special skills. However, you disclose a lot of personal information.
- Additional income, but limited: Paid online surveys can be a small source of additional income. If you prove to be a reliable person, you may be given better paid surveys. However, there are not always enough surveys to generate a constant additional income and sometimes the ratio of effort to reward is not good.
- Low risk, but no say: Reputable survey platforms are generally free and do not require any monetary investment on your part. You are not bound by contract and can stop the survey at any time. However, you are dependent on the rules of the survey platform and cannot help shape them.
