Sometimes the door of a Siemens washing machine may not open. There may be a number of different reasons for this. With the right tricks and tips, you can still get your laundry done quickly.
- Delayed unlocking: The most common reason why the door of a Siemens washing machine does not open is delayed unlocking. For safety reasons, the washing machine remains locked for a few minutes after the wash cycle, for example after a particularly hot program or if there is residual water in the drum. So just wait a few minutes.
- Child lock activated: With a Siemens washing machine, it is possible to activate a child lock that keeps the door locked and the buttons unresponsive. You can usually recognize the child lock by the key or lock symbol on the display. Simply deactivate the child lock to open the door. Since it is different depending on the model, it is best to consult the operating instructions.
- Residual water in the drum: Your Siemens washing machine may have problems with the pump, causing residual water to remain in the drum. Special sensors then prevent the door from being opened. Possible reasons for this include a clogged drain, blocked hose or clogged drain pump. In this case, drain the residual water manually through the lint filter. After that, you should be able to open the door again.
- Defective door lock or door latch: If the locking mechanism or the door lock is damaged, this will also prevent you from opening the door. If there is a button for manual unlocking, press it. If your Siemens washing machine does not have this function, look for the mechanical emergency release. Sometimes it also helps to disconnect the machine from the power supply for a short time and wait. Another option is to unlock the door latch by gently tapping on the door frame.
- Defective door hook: If none of the above applies, the door hook may be defective. To open the door anyway, insert a piece of string between the frame and the casing. Then pull firmly until you meet resistance. Now you should be able to open the door.
