To disable Bing search on Windows 11, you just need to turn off the option in System Preferences.
To disable Bing in Windows 11 search,
When you start a local search in Windows 11, for example via the Start menu or the search widget on the taskbar, you will not only get results related to apps, documents or settings on your PC, but also content from the online search engine Bing. However, you can easily change this behavior in the system settings:
- Click the Windows 11 Start button and open the settings.
- In the left-hand overview, go to Privacy and security.
- Now select the Search Permissions item.
- Scroll down to the Web Search section. Here you can now set the switch next to Microsoft Bing Web Search to Off. If available, you can also disable results from other search apps here.
Disable Bing search via group policy
Alternatively, you can disable Bing search via the Windows 11 Group Policy Editor. However, this only works on Windows 11 Pro, not Windows 11 Home, because unfortunately the editor is missing here:
- Press the key combination [Win] + [R].
- Enter the command gpedit.msc. Click OK.
- Navigate to Computer Configuration ☻ Administrative Templates ☻ Windows Components ☻ Search in the folder view on the left side.
- Double-click the setting Do not search for web content using Windows Search and do not include web results in search.
- Set the policy to Enabled and confirm by clicking OK.
- Repeat this for the setting Do not allow web search. This should also be set to Enabled.
