On an Android smartphone, you can easily compress photos via the gallery. Alternatively, there are also apps and websites for reducing the size of photos.
Compress photos in the Android gallery
On an Android phone, you can quickly and easily compress your photos in the editing function of the gallery.
- First, open the Gallery app on your Android. Select the photo you want to resize.
- The next step is to tap the edit icon. This is usually a pencil at the bottom of the screen.
- Three vertical dots with further options will now appear at the top right. Click on them and select “Resize”.
- Now you can select a desired size from the “Resize Image” list. The sizes are given as a percentage of the original size. Then click on “Done” to save the changes.
- Finally, you have to go to “Save” again. The compressed image file is now in your gallery.
Compress Android photos: apps and websites
Compressing images in the Gallery app is the easiest way to make an image smaller. However, you can also use apps and websites.
- The Android Playstore contains countless apps that are specialized in reducing the size of images. For example, “Photos and Images Resize” or “Compress Image – MB to KB”.
- In addition, you can reduce the size of photos with editing apps that are not exclusively designed for compression. Examples of these are “Picsart” and “Canva”.
- Another option is to compress photos online. To do this, use sites like “iLoveIMG” or “Compress JPEG”, for example.
