Can you uninstall Bixby? Simply explained

Bixby is the voice assistant on your Samsung smartphone that cannot be uninstalled. But you don’t have to use the service.

Uninstall Bixby: How to deactivate the service

Samsung smartphones are equipped with their own Bixby button. This is located directly below the volume buttons and activates Samsung’s own voice assistant – unfortunately often unintentionally. Bixby cannot be completely uninstalled, but it can be deactivated.

• Press and hold the Bixby button on the left side of the smartphone to access Bixby.

• Go to the three-dot menu in the upper right corner and then to Settings.

• You can easily disable the “Voice Activation,” “Use on Locked Phone,” and “Bixby Dictation” features here. Under “Notifications,” uncheck the “Show Notifications” box.

• Under “Bixby Button” you also set that you have to press twice for Bixby to be activated. This way, you will no longer accidentally activate the service.

If you have another app that you like to use regularly, you can link it to the Bixby button.

• Press and hold the Bixby button and go back to the three-dot menu.

• Under “Bixby Button” and “Use Once Press” you select an app that will start when the button is pressed.
