You have to create an Apple ID if you want to use Apple’s paid services. There are several ways to do this.
Create an Apple ID on your iDevice – this is how you do it
With your iPhone, iPod or iPad, you have several options for creating an Apple ID.
- If you buy a new iPhone or iPad and have not previously had your own Apple ID, you will be prompted to create one when setting up the device.
- As soon as you reach the Apple ID point during the setup of the iPhone, iPod or iPad, you will be asked to enter it. Here you will also find the option to create an Apple ID.
- To do this, enter your date of birth, your name and the email address you want to use for the Apple ID. Then you need to set a password. Follow the prompts on the screen.
- If you want to create a new Apple ID, you can easily do so later via the App Store. To do this, start the App Store on your Apple device.
- Here you will find the option “Create new Apple ID”. However, this will only appear if you are not signed in to iCloud. If you don’t see the option, go to your device’s settings and sign out of iCloud.
Create an Apple ID on a Mac
If you have an iMac or a MacBook, you can create an Apple ID in System Preferences.
- Click on the Apple icon in the top right and select “System Preferences”.
- In the sidebar, click on “Sign in” and then on “Not yet got an account?”
- You will be guided through the process. To create an Apple ID, you will need to enter your date of birth and the country you live in. Provide an email address for your Apple ID and set a strong password.
- The next step is to set up a payment method for purchases. If you don’t want to do that, select “None” and click “Continue”.
- Confirm your phone number. This is helpful if you ever need to restore your Apple account later.
- You will receive a confirmation email from Apple. You must confirm your email address in this email to complete the creation of your Apple ID.
Create an Apple ID in your browser
Although you can also create an Apple ID via iTunes, the browser form is much faster and more convenient. This option is also suitable, for example, if you want to create an Apple ID on your Windows PC.
- Open the Apple ID creation website and click on the blue “Create Apple ID” button in the bottom right corner.
QNow enter the required data in the form: Your e-mail address serves as your Apple ID. This does not necessarily have to be from Apple. Set a password for this and repeat it.
- Then fill out the form by selecting a security question and entering your personal data with your address. The latter will not be checked. However, you should of course enter it correctly if, for example, you plan to order something from the Apple Store.
- If you do not want to receive advertising and newsletters by email, remove the two following check marks.
- Then enter the character combination that you see on the security image and check the last box. Finally, click on the “Create Apple ID” button and your account is as good as set up.
- You will then receive an e-mail with a confirmation link that you must open. Once you have done this, your Apple ID is successfully registered and you can use it to log in to iTunes, on your iPhone or iPad, and at the Apple Store.
Create an Apple ID on Windows – Apple TV app, Apple Music app or iTunes
On your Windows computer, create an Apple ID using iTunes, the Apple TV app, or the Apple Music app.
- Open the Apple TV app or the Apple Music app and click “Sign In” at the bottom of the sidebar.
