As always, there are new Christmas movies this year. While some are comedies, there are also films that take a more serious tone.
New Christmas movies from 2024
Those who have seen the classics among Christmas films enough and are looking for new Christmas stories will find alternatives this year in cinemas, on television and on streaming platforms.
- A Tiny Christmas Miracle: The animated film can be streamed on Netflix. In a small coastal town, everyone has their own hopes and worries. But increasingly, the stories of lonely souls converge and connect them into a community. A child-friendly film for the whole family, with moments that are both funny and touching.
- Niko – Journey to the Lights: A new adventure of Niko, the reindeer, is in the cinemas this year at Christmas time. Niko is determined to pull Santa’s sleigh. But both the competition from Stella the reindeer and the sudden disappearance of the sleigh endanger his dream – and Christmas.
- Bach – A Christmas Miracle: Johann Sebastian Bach is preparing for the big Christmas performance at St. Thomas Church. But the city authorities have different ideas from the composer. - Christmas On Windmill Way: In this romantic movie, Mia has to realize that the family windmill is about to be sold. To save the family estate, she encounters a lot of resistance – and her ex. The movie about family, love and Christmas can be streamed on Netflix.
- Meet Me Next Christmas: When Layla gets stuck at the airport, she meets James. The two of them agree to meet again for next year’s Christmas concert. But Layla has to go on a real adventure to get a ticket and meet the love of the airport again. While hunting for the ticket, she also meets Teddy. The hopeless romantic is caught between two stools. - Red One: For those who can stand some action at Christmas, Red One – Mission Christmas is available to watch in cinemas and on Amazon Prime. With Dwayne Johnson, Kris Evans and Lucy Liu, things get rough and adventurous when Santa Claus is kidnapped and a motley crew goes on a rescue mission.
- Die Schneeschwester: This tragic and equally sentimental movie can be streamed on Netflix. When tragedy strikes, young Julian loses his faith in Christmas. But a special friendship gives him new hope. Between secrets and the magic of friendship, this family film, based on the Norwegian bestseller of the same name, unfolds.
