If you want to cancel your WhatsApp account, you simply delete it. This can be done in just a few steps on both Android and iOS devices.
Cancel your WhatsApp account: What you need to know when deleting
If you no longer wish to use the WhatsApp messenger service, you have the option of deleting your account. There are two important points to keep in mind, whether you are an iOS or an Android user:
- You can only delete your account from your main device and not from a linked device.
- Before you delete your WhatsApp account, keep in mind that you cannot undo this step later.
- When you delete your WhatsApp account, your profile picture, account information, chat backups and any channels you created in which you are the only admin will be deleted. You will also be removed from all WhatsApp groups.
Delete WhatsApp account on iOS
To delete your account on an iOS device, all it takes is a few clicks:
- Start WhatsApp and select [Settings].
- Go to [Account] in Settings and then tap [Delete My Account].
- To complete the deletion, the app will ask you to enter your phone number (in international format) and confirm the deletion by clicking on [Delete my account].
Delete WhatsApp account on Android
You can also easily delete your WhatsApp account on Android devices:
- Open WhatsApp and click on [More options].
- Go to [Settings], then to [Account] and finally to [Delete account].
- Now you have to enter your phone number (in international format) and click on [Delete account].
- WhatsApp will display a list of reasons for account deletion, from which you must select the correct one.
- Then you just need to click on [Delete Account].
