Where can I find the serial number of my MacBook?

by Flo

If you want to find the serial number of your MacBook, simply access your system information. There are two different methods for doing this.

Serial number check: How to find the serial number of your MacBook

You can find out the serial number in just a few steps. You will need the serial number, for example, to process warranty claims or to register an Apple Care package.

  • First, click on the Apple logo in the upper-left corner of your desktop.

  • Then select the “About this Mac” option.

  • This opens a window with system information about your Mac, such as processor, memory and startup disk. The serial number of your MacBook is also displayed in this list under “Serial number”.

How to find the serial number in the System Information app

Another way to check the serial number is to use the System Information app.

  • To do this, press the Option key on your keyboard. At the same time, select “System Information” from the Apple menu. The Option key can be found at the bottom of the row that also contains the Space bar, next to the Command key.

  • In the sidebar that opens, click on “Hardware”.

  • The serial number of your Mac is now displayed on the right side of the screen.
