The Google Installer is also known as the Google Updater. If it is active, it automatically installs the latest Chrome versions. However, you can also remove it.
Remove Google Installer or Updater
The Google Installer not only installs the latest Chrome versions, it also forwards information to Google without you noticing. This information relates to your usage behavior. If you do not want this, remove the Google Installer from the startup list. This will disable it.
- Press the “Windows key”.
- A search bar will appear. Enter “msconfig” in it.
- Press the “Enter key”.
- Then go to “Startup”.
- Uncheck the box next to “Google Updater”.
How to disable the installer service
If you want to disable the Google Installer service, proceed as follows:
- Press the “Windows key”.
- A search bar will appear. Enter “services” in this.
- A list will open. Scroll down until you find “Google-Updater” or “gupdater”.
- Right-click on it.
- Then select “Properties” and then “Disabled”.
- Click on “Apply” to confirm the deactivation.
