Order on account at Amazon – this is how it works

by Pramith

To order on account at Amazon, you have to register for monthly billing. Business accounts, on the other hand, can use classic invoices.

Amazon monthly billing: This is how you order on account

At Amazon, you have a variety of payment options, one of which includes purchase on account. With monthly billing, Amazon offers you the option of placing orders on a combined invoice.

  • This payment method summarizes all orders from a given month and invoices them to you on the first day of the following month. You then have until the 14th of the respective month to pay the invoice via SEPA direct debit or bank transfer. If you fail to pay, a default fee of €2.40 will be charged.
  • Monthly billing is available to private customers residing in one of the following countries: Germany, Austria, Denmark, Norway, Finland, Sweden and Switzerland. A credit check is required to use the service.
  • You can set up monthly billing through the payment options in your Amazon account. There, click on monthly billing and enter the following information: first and last name, date of birth and your billing address.
  • Once you’re approved for monthly billing, you can easily place orders and pay for them in the following month. For example, you can order a new graphics card for your PC, including a monitor, keyboard and mouse, and pay for it later. The individual products do not have to be ordered at the same time, only in the same month.
  • To do so, simply select the monthly billing option at checkout and the products will be added to your bill. It is also possible to pay for Amazon Prime memberships and Prime Video add-on subscriptions via monthly billing.
  • You cannot use this billing option to pay for other subscriptions, digital products, gift cards, or products that take more than seven days to deliver. If you need to, you can pay for products on your monthly bill through other methods before the 1st of the following month. These will be automatically deducted from the bill.
  • Note: Amazon also offers Barclays financing for orders between €100 and €3,000. For Amazon orders, simply select Financing with Barclays and the desired payment period of three to 48 monthly installments. You confirm the financing via an mTAN.

Order on account at Amazon: Information for business accounts

Amazon offers a classic invoice only for business customers.

  • You can select the payment method in the business account via the Invoice + Shipping section. Click on Purchase on Invoice to set up the option. After the check, you will be informed that the account is approved for invoices.
  • For each invoice, you have a payment period of 30 days after the order has been shipped. You can view all invoices in the business account, including those from employees.
  • Payment is made either by SEPA direct debit or bank transfer.
