Mac: Shortcut for Force Quit

by Pramith

To close Mac programs that are no longer responding using “Force Quit”, you can also use a shortcut.

Close Mac programs immediately using a shortcut

It’s so easy to open the Force Quit window and close applications that are not responding:

  • Press the keyboard shortcut “alt” + “cmd” +“esc”.
  • Select the program to be closed from the list and click “End immediately”. The program will be shut down, and you can then restart it.

Alternative method for closing programs using the Activity Monitor tool:

If the Force Quit window doesn’t work or you need more detailed information about the running programs:

  • Open Activity Monitor (you can find it via Spotlight or in the Utilities folder).
  • Select the program you want to quit .
  • Click on the “X” in the upper left corner and confirm the termination.
