With WhatsApp, it is possible to take a screenshot of someone’s status without them noticing or receiving a notification
Simply explained: WhatsApp status screenshots
In WhatsApp statuses, people share pictures, videos, links or texts to keep their contacts up to date. If you want to take a screenshot of a WhatsApp status, you can do so without any problems.
- To save a WhatsApp status via screenshot, all you have to do is call up the status on WhatsApp and then quickly press the usual key combination on your smartphone.
- On Android, simply press and hold the on/off button on the right and the volume down button on the left of the smartphone at the same time for a short time.
- If you have activated the function, you can also simply swipe across the screen with the edge of your hand to save a screenshot.
- On an iPhone, press the volume up button and the side button at the same time. When you let go, a thumbnail of the screenshot you have just taken will appear on the display.
- You will then find the screenshot in your smartphone gallery.
Does the other person see when I take a WhatsApp screenshot?
There are apps like Snapchat where the other person can see it directly when you take a screenshot of a post. This is not the case with WhatsApp – here you can save images incognito.
- If you screenshot the status of a contact, they will not receive a notification. Your chat partner will only see that you have viewed the status
- If you have switched off read receipts for messages in your privacy settings, your contacts will not be shown if you have viewed status messages. This allows you to remain anonymous, but you will also not be able to see who has viewed your status
