Canva: Inserting and deleting a link – how it works

If you want to insert a link in Canva, you can only do this to a limited extent. The links can only be clicked on PDFs. They do not work on JPGs or videos

Insert a link in Canva: How it works on the desktop

Note: If you insert a link in Canva, it can only be clicked on PDFs. The links are not active in image files such as JPGs or PNGs or in videos. This is only the case if you present the image or video material using Canva’s “Presentation” function.

• Create a link: Open your project in Canva or create a new design. Add the object you want to link. This can be a text field or an image, for example.

• Select the object by clicking on it. The editing options are displayed. Click on the “Link” button in the top menu bar or search for the “Link” option in the settings for the selected element. To link a page of the document, go to “Pages in this document” and type in the page number

• Enter the URL of the link in the field displayed and confirm your entry. If necessary, adjust the display of the linked element. These are, for example, the color of the text or the size of the linked image.

• Check your work to ensure that the link has been inserted correctly and works as desired. To ensure that the link works, export the graphic as a PDF.

• Remove link: Select the object with the link. Click on the pencil icon in the menu field. Then go to the recycle bin to remove the link.

How to add links on the mobile device: Instructions

Open the project you want to edit on your mobile device, such as Android or iOS. Select the object you want to link.

• Insert link: Tap “More ☻ Link” in the toolbar. Enter the link and confirm with “Apply”.

• If you want to link a page number, select the page you want to link to in the “Pages” area. Use the “Last used” option to link the document to another document that you have created in Canva.

• Delete link: To delete the link, select the linked object. Tap on the “Link icon ☻ Remove”.
