Instagram will be paid in Europe if you want to use the app without personalized advertising in the future.
Instagram without ads: then it will be paid
According to Meta, it will be expensive for Instagram users if you want to use the app without personalized advertising.
- From November, users will have to pay 9.99 euros a month to use the social media platform as usual. This price applies to web users.
- On Android and iOS, you’ll have to pay 12.99 euros instead. The change affects users in the EU, EEA and Switzerland.
- Meta opted for this model after EU data protection regulations introduced new requirements regarding ads and the use of customer data. In addition, the group is positive about personalized ads.
Instagram: Paid subscription more expensive for connected accounts
It’s not just Instagram that will be subject to a fee starting in November. This also applies to Facebook.
- Facebook users will face the same costs to continue using the platform without ads. However, if you use Facebook and Instagram through a connected account, the price is reduced.
- This means you don’t pay full price for both platforms. If you subscribe via Instagram and want to use Facebook ad-free afterwards as well, you’ll have to pay six euros more.
- If you take out the subscriptions via iOS and Android, the additional amount increases by eight euros. This pricing model will come into effect on March 1, 2024. Until then, you will only have to pay for one account.
