Deleting WhatsApp channels: is it possible?

by Pramith

Deleting WhatsApp channels is not possible. We present you with an alternative on how to get rid of unwanted accounts.

Delete WhatsApp channels? Unfortunately not so easy

WhatsApp channels are a way for businesses and individuals to communicate with multiple contacts at the same time. Currently, there is no way to hide or deactivate channels in the current WhatsApp version. However, you can unsubscribe from channels that you no longer wish to follow.

  • Open the channel you want to unsubscribe.
  • Tap on the three dots in the top right corner.
  • Select “Unsubscribe”.

To delete your created channels

You have created your own WhatsApp channel that you no longer need? No problem, you can easily delete it:

  • Open WhatsApp and go to the “News” tab.
  • Select the channel you want and tap on the channel name.
  • Click on “Delete channel”.
  • A warning message will be displayed stating that the channel cannot be restored and that previous activity on followers’ devices will be preserved.
  • Click on “Delete”.
  • Please note that your subscribers will still be able to find your channel, but they will see a notice that the channel has been deleted. The messages you sent that are still stored on their devices will still be visible to them.
