If you activate Bluetooth for your Stadia Controller, you can continue to use it even though Google has now closed its cloud gaming service.
How to enable Bluetooth for the Stadia Controller
Google Stadia didn’t have the desired user reception, so Google’s cloud gaming service has been shot. Enable Bluetooth for the controller, you can connect it wirelessly to other devices in the future and continue to use it.
- Connect the Stadia controller to your computer using a USB-C cable. When doing so, make sure that the controller’s battery is charged to at least 10 per cent.
- Start the browser on your computer and call up the Stadia website with the Bluetooth tool.
- Click on “Switch to Bluetooth mode”.
- Important: You cannot undo the switch to Bluetooth mode. You will then no longer be able to play with Stadia via WLAN.
- If you want to switch to Bluetooth mode, click on “Start”. Check the box for the terms of use and click on “Start” again.
- In the next step, give the controller a name and click on “Connect”.
- Follow the on-screen instructions and disconnect the cable connection to the controller when prompted. Then press the option button with the three dots and plug the cable back in at the same time.
- Press “Y”, “A”, the Option key and the Assistant key at the same time.
- If the message for the pending download appears in the browser, confirm. In the next window, select “SP Blank RT Family” as your controller. The download will then start automatically.
- Note: The tool for switching to Bluetooth mode is only available until 31 December 2023.
