Over time, many pictures accumulate in your gallery. On Android, you have several options for sorting these photos and keeping track of them. We present the options to you here.
How to sort pictures in the Android gallery
Open the gallery and tap “Albums” in the top left corner.
- Select “Places” and the gallery will list all the pictures by the corresponding locations.
- For this to work, you need to add locations to your images.
- When you select “Date”, the photos will be listed chronologically with the most recent date first.
- Some apps already store photos in albums. If you tap on “Album” again, you will see albums for WhatsApp or your camera, for example.
- If you have a particularly large number of pictures, it is a good idea to create more albums and sort the pictures for a better overview.
- Now specify the storage location for the new folder. This can either be the internal phone memory or an SD card.
- Click on the folder with the plus sign at the bottom left to create a new album.
- Enter a name and then move the images you want to the new folder.
- As soon as you open the gallery, the new album is visible.
Alternative Android apps for better order in the picture gallery
- If you are not satisfied with the functions of the standard gallery, you can use alternatives such as the free app “QuickPic Gallery”. With this you can, for example, conveniently create folders from within the app.
- With “F-Stop Picture Gallery” you get a particularly large number of setting options and filter options. This app is basically free of charge. However, there is also a Pro version for currently 4.09 euros (as of August 2021), which includes more helpful features. For example, you can create a custom sort order, edit metadata directly in the app and create nested albums.
