Show duplicates in Excel: This is how it works

by Johannes

If you want to display and remove duplicates in Excel, you can easily do so with a little trick. You can find instructions on how to do this in this article.

Display duplicates in Excel: These are the steps

To find duplicates in Excel, follow these steps:

  • In Microsoft Excel, first mark all numbers to be checked for duplicates.
  • For example, if you want to filter out the duplicates of the complete data series, click on the box between “A” and “1” (diagonally next to cell A1).
  • Then select the button “Conditional formatting” in the menu “Start” under “Format templates” (see picture).
  • Now click on “Rules for highlighting cells” and then on “Duplicate values”.
  • All cell duplicates will then be displayed in red.
