How to find the clipboard on Android

by Johannes

Just like on your computer, you can also copy words and text sections to the clipboard on Android. In this practical tip, we will show you exactly where you can find the clipboard.

Open the clipboard in Android: Here’s how

If you copy a text, it automatically ends up in the clipboard. On some Android smartphones, you can save multiple contents to the clipboard and also view the clipboard for this purpose.

  • The first thing you do is open the keyboard on your Android smartphone, for example in a WhatsApp chat.
  • The clipboard hides behind a clipboard or a cog icon, depending on the keyboard.
  • On some devices, you have to hold your finger down on the text field so that the “clipboard” appears in addition to the usual functions such as “copy” and “paste”.
  • Here you will now find the last copied texts and objects. Selecting them will paste them directly into the text field.

Android: Save text to the clipboard

To save text to the clipboard, proceed as follows:

  • Hold down the text you want to copy. Two marks will now appear to delimit the text.
  • Move the two markers to the desired start and end of the text.
  • Finally, tap on “Copy”. The text is now saved in the clipboard.

Use and edit multiple clipboards with Android: How to do it

Normally, you can only use one clipboard on Android tablets and smartphones with Android system. If you copy another text, the previous one is deleted from the memory.

  • However, this is not the case with all Android devices. Sometimes you will find a menu on the keyboard in which several clipboard entries are stored.
  • Just look for a cogwheel or clipboard at the edges of the keyboard. On some machines, you will find the option in the menu that opens when you want to copy or paste text.
  • If such a function is not available on your device, you can add the feature via an app. The Clipper Plus app automatically saves all texts that you copy. This means that you can still access content from the clipboard even weeks later.
