Inductive charging of your iPhone SE smartphone is successful if you have the right accessories available for the respective generation
iPhone SE: Inductive charging depending on generation
In order to charge an iPhone SE wirelessly via induction, you need a model from the generation supported for this.
- The first generation iPhone SE (2016) does not support inductive charging. This feature was only integrated into the iPhone models by Apple in 2017.
- You can retrofit your iPhone SE with a matching Qi receiver to charge it wirelessly. These attach to the back of the device via the Lightning port and enable inductive charging via a Charger Pad.
- If you own a second (2020) or third generation (2022) iPhone SE, you can charge the smartphones inductively via the Qi standard.
- To charge these models wirelessly, you need a suitable charger, as the Apple MagSafe Charger is not supported due to the charging power. Instead, you will need a Wireless Charger Pad that is compatible with charging powers of 7.5 watts.
- Alternatively, use a battery case or Lightning docking station for wireless charging. Battery cases do not work for first generation iPhone SE smartphones.
