If you don’t know how to open your SIM card slot without a tool, we’ll show you how to remove the SIM card from your smartphone or tablet without damaging it

Open SIM card slot without SIM tool

Newer devices have a SIM card slot that ejects the card when you gently push it in. For older devices, you can use many everyday objects as replacement SIM card tools. All you need is a thin piece of metal with a long tip.

  • Earring: Use the long end of a thin earring to remove the SIM card from your device. Be careful not to scratch the case when doing this.
  • Pencil: You can also use a mechanical pencil to open the SIM tray. However, you may break off a piece of the lead. Be careful not to get any pencil fragments stuck in the SIM card slot.
  • Paper clip: You can also use a paper clip. Caution: The paint-coated staples may be too thick and also leave marks on the casing.
  • Tack: A tack is also suitable for opening the SIM compartment. Again, be careful not to scratch your case with the tip.
  • Pin: Almost every household has a pin. You can also use this to remove your SIM card from the device.
