The longbow is a powerful weapon in Ghost of Tsushima and an alternative to the shortbow. To be able to use it, you first have to find the good piece. You can find all the information you need in our practical tip.
Ghost of Tsushima: The longbow in detail
In Ghost of Tsushima, there are a variety of things that you can easily overlook if you just follow the story. Among these is the longbow, which can be tracked down early in Act 1.
- Unlock Longbow: You unlock the weapon after completing the mythical story “The Curse of Uchitsune”. For this one, travel to Izuhara to the Hiyoshi Healing Bath and prick up your ears. A musician will tell you about the Uchitsune Longbow and task you with the quest, which we won’t spoil for you.
- Munition: The longbow uses heavy and blasting arrows. Heavy arrows cause significantly more damage than normal ones, while blasting arrows explode on impact. You can get your first arrows for the bow after completing the quest.
- Dyeable: You can colour the bow in 6 different colours at will. To do this, you only need the appropriate ink, which is available from dealers for 5 flowers. The longbow can thus be adapted to the desired style.
Tips for use
The use of the longbow differs significantly from the shortbow in Ghost of Tsushima. Due to the dimensions of the bow, you need to draw it longer to inflict the most damage. For this reason, it is not so well suited for heated battles.
- Limited in Use: You cannot shoot with the longbow when ducking. The size would not allow it, as Jin also needs more strength to draw. As a precaution, find cover to hide behind after firing.
- Greater Range: Apart from the higher damage, the range is one of the biggest plus points of the longbow. You can shoot enemies from a great distance without being seen. Since the trajectory of the arrows is straighter, you don’t have to consider a trajectory, which makes it easier for some players to hit enemies.
- Upgrades: You can upgrade both the bow and the arrows. The longbow can be upgraded from level 1 to level 5, while the arrows can be upgraded a maximum of twice.
