What does 5G on mobile mean?
Whoever owns an Internet-enabled cell phone has certainly seen the “5G” icon on the display. What 5G means on a cell phone is relatively simple:
- 5G is the fifth generation of mobile communications. It is the successor to 4G.
- 5G promises significantly faster and more stable mobile Internet, as well as facilitating the use of new applications – for example, digital mobility services, traffic optimization or even augmented reality.
- In order to use 5G, the end device must be capable of doing so on the one hand, and the mobile network provider must make the technology available on the other.
