The second generation of DALL-E has already been published and you can also use DALL-E 2 free of charge. However, the free use of the web tool is not unlimited.
Using DALL-E free of charge – this is how it works
DALL-E or the further developed DALL-E 2 is a so-called image-generating artificial intelligence that you can use free of charge. The development of such programmes is very time-consuming and ties up a lot of capacity – of course, this has to be profitable in the end.
- DALL-E was developed by the start-up OpenAI, in which Microsoft has been a shareholder for some time. And the software giant rarely has anything to give away.
- The tool DALL-E and its successor DALL-E 2 are free of charge. After you have registered, you first receive so-called credits as a gift, exactly 50. You exchange these credits for commands with which you tell DALL-E which images you want. You “pay” one credit for an image generation command.
- OpenAI gives you another 15 credits per month, but of course they are quickly used up. If you need even more credits, you have to dig into your pocket and buy additional credits. A package includes 115 credits and costs you around 15 US dollars.
- For the credits, the AI DALL-E creates images based on your specifications. Using the web tool is as easy as using a search engine. You enter text and the tool generates the matching images. You can then use the images created by the AI without restriction and also make modifications with the help of an image editing programme.
